Existing Products-Digipak

In a few days I am having a photo shoot with my artist (Rhiannon) where I aim to shoot as many images as possible for the digipak. To ensure that I know what type of photographs to take and what costumes to ask Rhiannon to bring along, I need to look into examples of CD covers from the genre I have selected (electro-pop.) I aim to get as many looks from Rhiannon as possible to ensure I have a lot to work with in post-production, I will try to make the images represent the meaning of the song whilst acknowledging the research I have found.

Below is some existing texts that I have found:

Titanium-David Guetta Feat. Sia.
The image shows David Guetta stood in a stance with bent knees. The image of him is in a black and white colour effect which is in contrast the the light blue background behind him. The text is in white which is made prominent with the contrasting colours (black and blue). There are three separate fonts that are used on the cover. 'Titanium' and 'Sia' is written in a rather rounded and bold font. Whilst the word 'Feat.' is written in a very thin and sleek font to contrast with the other texts on the cover. 'David Guetta' (the artist of the song) is written in his logo which is a very modern, sharp and unusual font. This is very different to the other fonts on the cover which makes those two words most prominent.

One Love-David Guetta.
The image on the cover shows David Guetta (the artist) with long hair and stubble, whilst wearing a t-shirt and large circular sunglasses. The image itself is in black and white, is a medium close-up photograph and has an unfocused background. The text includes Guetta's logo in white, and the album title written in pink in a a graffiti-like font, both pieces of texts are located in the top right of the digi-pak. The colours of the writing is in contrast to the black and white image underneath it, this is to make this prominent and to entice the audience when the realise who's album it is.

Wake Me Up-Avicii.
The text 'Wake Me Up' is big, bold and transparent with the outline of the letters being in white, the edges of the letters are sharp and have an unusual look. The artist's name (Avicii) is located at the bottom of the digi-pak, it is his logo and includes two white triangles that are facing in opposite directions, and positioned above 'Avicii' in a small, modern and slim font that is coloured in white similar to the single name. The image behind this text is in a sepia effect, the artist himself is stood in a stance with his hands in his pockets and his legs open. He is wearing dark clothes and a hat. The effect and dark clothes that is involved in the image adds are contrasting and good background for the light coloured writing in front of it.

Lady Gaga-Applause.
The new single by world-famous popstar, Lady Gaga involved her peeking through a white duvet, her face is covered in white face paint, with blue and orange colours smeared on top of it. Within the medium close-up image, she is staring into the camera whilst wearing a black wig cap, it is widely known the Lady Gaga wears a variety of wigs as a way of expressing herself, this is a stripped back representation of this. This image is in a white frame, it almost looks like a polaroid image, at the bottom of the cover within the white frame the text reads 'Lady Gaga' and 'Applause' this is all in lower case apart from the 'L' in 'Lady' and appears to be in a handwriting font.

Work B**ch-Britney Spears.
This is a more glamorous image that shows Britney Spears in a showgirl-like costume, the costume is blue, glittery and feathered, it has a very open front and reveals her bust. Spears is stood in front of a dressing table which shows the back of her costume and head in the mirror on this. The objects on the dressing table include crowns, jewels, feathers and a mini Las Vegas sign (in reference to her recent debut performing a residency in Las Vegas.) 'Britney Spears' is written in white and uppercase writing, that is above a black background to make this writing prominent. At the bottom of the digi-pak the text 'Work B**ch!' is written in almost handwritten font, the text is white but has a thing black outline around it to make it clear and prominent. There is also a drawing of a white love heart located in the bottom left corner that has a transparent middle.

Summertime Sadness-Lana Del Rey.
The medium shot image of Lana Del Ray shows her in the centre of the cover, wearing a white shirt and holding black gloves. Behind her the background is unfocused and it is unclear what is there, however it is assumed that she is outside. There is also a spatter of blood that is located on the right side of the digi-pak, this could be there to represent that Del Rey is a criminal or could have a link to the lyrics within the song. The text features 'Lana Del Rey' and 'Summertime Sadness' written in black, narrow and bold writing, located at the bottom of the cover.

Stay The Night-Zedd Feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore.
This is a rather unusual cover for a single. The image includes many colours (orange, red, purple, pink, peach) and shows a young woman with orange hair with her arms above her head. On her shoulders there appears to be some kinds of belt buckle on both shoulders as well as a tattoo on her arm. The text is located at the bottom of the digi-pak. The artist 'Zedd' appears to be written in his logo in white, with 'Feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore' and 'Stay The Night' underneath 'Zedd'. This is in a rather normal, white text, with 'Stay The Night' in a slightly bolder font to make this more prominent that the text including the featuring artist.

Loud-Rihanna.
The front cover features Rihanna (the artist) in an extreme close-up image, with closed eyes, red hair and red lips. The image is almost in a Sepia effect which compliments the slightly sensual/exotic look that she is going for on this cover. Along the top in spread out text is written 'RIHANNA' with 'LOUD' also written along the bottom. Both sets of text are written in slim, white fonts that are in contrast to the orange-y colour image behind it. The two CD's in the album have what appears to be a Rose printed on the disc, the Rose appears to be a peach/cream colour. The inside of the digi-pak features Rihanna spread across the 3 parts of the inside. She is laid in red Roses which links it to the disc because it is a Rose and also the front cover because of Rihanna's red hair and lips.

Teenage Dream-Katy Perry.
The CD disc featured within the digi-pak is in the colours of a Candy Cane. It is centred around the middle of the disc and is in the colours of Red and White, this links to her lead single 'California Gurls' which includes Candy Canes and other objects of that nature within the lyrics. The rest of the inside of the digi-pak involves Perry stood in front of a black screen in a royal outfit and a stereotypical crown. There is one image which is a medium close-up and another a long shot. The front cover of the album features Katy Perry without clothes laid in what appears to be Candy Floss (another food featured in 'California Gurls'). In the top left corner of the cover there is a element of blue to represent the sky, this suggests that the Candy Floss are clouds and that she is in the sky.

The Family Jewels-Marina & The Diamonds.
The back of the digi-pak (the track list) includes the artist (Marina) appearing to be wearing no clothes and having her head tilted back with her hair hanging down to cover her back. The songs featured on the album is listed in a sort of semi-circular shape that appears to be written in a nearly signature/handwritten font, this is along with a bar code located at the top right of the back. The front cover is similar to the back of the digi-pak, the front cover features Marina laid on a flowery carpet in a medium close-up image, we see her from the neck up where she is staring at the camera whilst wearing heavy make up and with her hair spread out. The writing on the front cover is the same as the font and colour on the back, the title of the album is located at the top left of the cover. The disc is a silver colour with a thin black outline along the edge of the disc, with the disc title (in the same font as the writing used on the rest of the digi-pak but in black) written at the bottom centre of the compact disc. The inside of the digi-pak features a close-up image of Marina with half of her face covered by her hand in a gun shape (as children sometimes use when playing war games.) Her hair takes up the rest of the image not taken up by her face.

Talk That Talk-Rihanna.
The disc in the digi-pak is in a newspaper style. The name of the artist and the album is mentioned as part of the headline in the newspaper that is printed onto the disc. In the background of the paper there is a black background which is in contrast to the white background on the news paper and matches the black writing featured within the article. The front cover of the album is a medium close-up image of Rihanna, with a black and white/greyscale effect and a black background. There is no text to indicate that the name of the artist just Rihanna's logo that is simply a 'R'. The name of the album is written at the bottom of in small, grey letters. There is also a privacy warning featured at the top right of the cover to warn purchasers of potential offensive lyrics. The inside of the digi-pak has two images, one matches the disc and goes for a news paper look, there is a close up image of Rihanna with her mouth open and her hair messed up. As a headline above this image the title of the album is written in a bold font. Next to this on the inside of the album, a long shot of Rihanna sat on a staircase is in a greyscale effect (matching all the other images in the digi-pak.) She is wearing a reasonably revealing outsit, with her legs open whilst she plays with her hair. On the back cover of the album there is an image of the artist laid on what appears to be a bed whilst she smokes a cigarette, again this is in a black and white effect. The track list for the album is written in red on the right of the album, with the barcode for the product on the top left.
